Link2Future
The First Baptist Church Benbrook came to life in December of 1954. Over the last 64 years, this congregation has stood as a testimony to the beauty and greatness of God and to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This congregation set deep roots in the current location on 1015 McKinley in 1954 and will continue to be an ambassador for Christ in Benbrook for generations to come.
Over the years, we have worked to provide functional, attractive, and inviting facilities to carry out the work of the ministry. We added a new worship facility in 1961. We added more education and fellowship space in 1966. Then we added our current worship center in 1980 and transformed the old worship space into the two story building. In 2009, we added the children’s building, lobby, expanded parking lot, and new main entrance. And in 2015, we added the new restrooms to our lobby as well as updated the exterior of the campus to match our new addition.
Our church is certainly more than our facilities, but we do need facilities to carry out the ministries of the church. And those facilities do need to be functional and inviting to visitors and future members of our congregation. We are looking forward to Phase III of our Master Plan which will replace our current educational and office space with one, contiguous facility. However, we cannot begin Phase III until we have retired the debt from Phase I in 2026. Additionally, we will have to raise sufficient capital funds to accomplish Phase III which could take an additional 3 to 5 years. Our facilities will continue to age over those 13 years, so we will need to do some updates to keep our facilities functional and inviting as we are progressing towards Phase III.
Which is why we are excited to tell you about Link2Future, our vision for facility improvements over the next five years. We are proposing to the church to raise capital funds to accomplish these major projects over the next five years:
· Exterior Playground behind the Children’s Building ($102K)
· Massive renovation to the fellowship hall complete with new kitchen and restrooms ($213K)
· Sound and lighting improvements to the sanctuary ($60K)
· Additional parking ($125K)
